Page 2 of 2 One day I was washing the dishes and I was thinking about what our new friend had said about Jesus, I had been thinking a lot about his words– about asking Jesus “into your heart”, as he had put it. I realised I wanted to do just that. I prayed there and then a simple prayer, asking Jesus to forgive my shortcomings and failures and to take charge of my life. I knew there and then that had happened. I felt washed clean and fresh and I knew, without anyone telling me, that my home was in heaven. Over the next four years the reality of Jesus and a home in heaven faded. The main reason was a desire to give up smoking and being unable to. But one day after a day of trying to quit I felt God speak into my heart. He said ‘choose not to have one.’ I chose not to have one and went to bed. I also made a choice to follow Jesus. I felt a wonderful peace and my life changed from that point. He has proved His love and faithfulness to me for nearly 30 years since then. He taught me an important lesson that evening....don’t try and struggle to change....be honest and say ‘I can’t do it, but with Gods help I can.’ I had also had problems with my kidneys for a number of years but God healed me. Since then, I aim always to try and put God first in everything. He has given my life purpose and meaning. Marsha |
